Ah instructors, I’m beginning to see your crafty ways! You’ve asked us to investigate emerging trends in adult education, build a blog, skype with a partner, and reflect on what we’ve uncovered in the process. At first glance, it appears to be a concoction of random tasks, but as I write this post, I realize it’s all been carefully crafted to provide an insightful (digital) learning experience!
And that it has! We have worked through the cognitive domain of Bloom’s taxonomy, with this summary blog a final reinforcement of our learning, culminating in ‘creation’. My learning partner and I have discussed many of the emerging trends in adult education, and have both learned from each others’ experiences and personal interests, expanding our understanding and our perspectives.
Strangely enough (though presumably by design), creating a blog post as part of the assignment fits beautifully into our discussion of emerging trends and digital tools in the classroom. My learning partner and I just finished chatting about technology and trends in adult education, and the potential of many of our digital tools as teaching aids. And to share our ideas we used one of those tools (Skype), and to write our assignments another tool (blog). As I said earlier, “such crafty instructors”!
Thanks for making it blatantly obvious that we need to pay attention to emerging trends, and that digital tools have a place in a classroom of adult learners. I was a skeptic, but you may have just converted me!
